When customers come to Dorset Resin, we can offer one of two construction methods – the method will vary depending on whether a suitable surface is present.

Complete Construction – if no suitable surface is present, we’ll start by excavating to a depth of 250mm. Any hard landscaping services are usually carried out before we move on to the next step. This involves rolling the area with a machine, and compacting the existing substrate before Type 1 stone (MOT) is laid, usually to a thickness of around 150-200mm. The area is rolled and compacted again before around 50-100mm of open-faced hot rolled tarmac/ C35 concrete is laid and rolled. The final layers are then added. 

Existing Surface Overlay – if a suitable concrete, tarmac, or block paved surface exists, we’ll skip ahead to preparing the surface and cleaning it with a high-pressure jet washer system. We’ll then apply a primer, resulting in a tacky surface by removing any moisture. We then pour on the resin, rake, and level it to a thickness of 18-20mm. 

We use resin to mass-fill dips or recessed areas, ensuring that the new surface is level and achieves parity with the correct gradients. 

Once done, the surface is trowelled, sealing and closing the resin stone, ensuring a smooth finish that’ll last. Finally, the surface is jet washed, leaving it spotless.
